The Needlers

Within the membership of the Auxiliary to the Cowichan District Hospital, there is a group called "The Needlers". They support the care and comfort of Hospital patients and Cairnsmore residents by knitting scarves, toques, lap robes, nightingales, socks and gloves; any article that will keep them warm and cozy. We also knit Layettes for newborns and Christmas gifts for those patients in the Hospital over the holidays without friends or family.

Together we share donated yarn and new patterns as well as exchange ideas about what works and what doesn't. As a group we support each other as we all work toward our goal of patient care and comfort. We are very productive and are joined by non-member friends of the Auxiliary from Arbutus Ridge, Shawnigan, Crofton, Chemainus and Mill Bay. Some of these ladies have been knitting for the group for many, many years. All surplus articles are sold through the Hospital Gift Shop as well as Craft Fairs such as Christmas Chaos and Deck the Hall. Funds earned in this way go toward equipment and services.

Have YOU run out of family and friends to knit or crochet for? Are you longing to hear the click of the needles or the shush that tells someone you're counting? Then maybe you would like to join us. You will never run out of knitting or be more appreciated than by those in the Hospital or Lodge. You will be joining an enthusiastic group of women who meet on the
